The sad fact is that most people trying to make money online fail. This is for a couple reasons that you can easily avoid. First of all, don’t buy into any of the programs that claim that you will make thousands of dollars a week in three days for doing nothing. It’s not true, making money online is hard, takes a lot of work, energy, and time. Don’t waste your time and money on these programs: only for 30 more minutes. The people selling the program don’t know how to make money online besides scamming a bunch of beginners into buying their product. If you do make it past the carny folk peddling their elixirs, then you will probably fall into the social bookmarking trap. And that’s fine for people like because it leaves the playing field wide open. But I’m going to give you information that will help you avoid traps because I think there is enough room to make money online for a lot more people. So don’t get caught up in chasing social traffic, it’s useless. It’s useless and even harmful for a couple reasons. Social traffic doesn’t convert, they don’t click on ads, and they are very wary of buying affiliate products. The only people that make money on the social crowd are the A-list, a very small list, and they make money selling e books and programs to their followers. Do yourself a favor, skip all the hardship, lost money, wasted time, and neglected relationships, and learn about search engine optimization (SEO). This is the key to making money on the internet because when most people want to learn something they go to a search engine and type in their keywords. They don’t go to Digg or StumbleUpon or the hundreds of other social bookmarking sites. So if you want to make money on the internet you are going to have to rank in the top ten of Google for your keywords and their long tails. Once you do this you will begin to make some decent money. The problem is achieving a high page rank.So how do you get up high in the search engine ranking pages (SERPs)? You use the techniques for search engine optimization. And when I talk about search engines I am really referring to Google. This is because most people use Google to search. Search engine optimization can be broken down into two categories: on and off page SEO. We’ll start with on page SEO since it is easier for you to control. You are going to want to make it clear for the G robots that are indexing your pages what exactly your blog is about. You don’t want there to be any confusion because if there is then your page won’t come up for your targeted keywords. So you are going to want to have a clear idea about what your pages is about, what keywords you are targeting, and all their long tails. First you are going to use your keyword in your URL, then in your blog title, subtitle, side bar, post title, content, and footer. This will let the G spiders know without a doubt that your page is only about your targeted keyword. This strategy also help with adsense if you are trying to make money online that way because you will get targeted ads that pay more and targeted traffic that actually click the ads. Now let’s talk about off page search engine optimization. This consists mainly of getting back links. The easiest way to do this is to write good quality articles that other people will copy and re-post on their blogs. Google will see that other sites that are relevant to your are linking and come to the conclusion that you are an authority for your key word. The trick is to get people to link to you with relevant keyword anchored links. Another way to get relevant back links is to ask sites in your niche that aren’t direct competitors to do a link exchange with you. If this sounds then to you then you are right. If you have lots of money you can always buy backlinks although G does not like this and could de index your site if they find out. I could go into a lot of depth with this subject but I’ll save that for my next post.
